PAULA S. THURMAN MEEKS, Age 65, a resident of Charleston, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at her home in Charleston.

Born April 5, 1952, at Charleston, MO, to the late Elmer William "Mike" Thurman and Pauline Christine Hart Thurman, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church and had been employed as a cook.

On August 27, 1988, she married Robert Gene Meeks, I, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2008.

Surviving are: two daughters, Patricia Ann Groves and Bobbie Lynn Hodges; one son, Robert Gene Meeks, II; three sisters, Rosie McClendon and Gail Faire of Charleston and Martha Humphrey of East Prairie, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Nicholas Lee Johnson; one stepdaughter, Kimberly J. Ernest; four brothers, Billy Thurman, Dennis Thurman, John Thurman and Joseph Thurman and four sisters, Mildred Marie Thurman, Mary Lou Vinson, Maxine Geers and Delores Hawkins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Her niece, Jessica Geers Riley, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Bobby Wayne Bowles, Jeffrey Allen Groves, Josh Thurman, Kenneth Wayne Patterson, Dennis Faire and David Faire.
