PEGGY JEAN MERRELL HOPPER, age 65, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born October 5, 1955, at Sikeston, MO, to Glenna Jones Merrell who survives of Sikeston, and the late Albert Junior Merrell, she had lived in Sikeston most of her life where she had attended the Church of Christ.  She attended the Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau where she graduated from the nursing program with honors.  Peggy went on to graduate from the Maryville University with a degree in nursing.   She worked as a Registered Nurse until ill health forced her retirement.

She was married to Michael Hopper who preceded her in death.

Surviving in addition to her mother is her daughter, Toby Michelle Hopper of St. Louis; her son, Blake Allen Hopper of Nashville; grandson, Ben O'Guinn; her brothers, Albert Lee Merrell and Robert Leonard Merrell both of Sikeston and her sister, Laura Lynn Denton of Sikeston; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband and father, her sister, Linda Kay Heuring, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 at McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Graveside services will follow at the Garden of Memories in Sikeston at 2:00 p.m., with Keith Olbricht, officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
