Peggy Ann Graham Thurman, age 80, died Monday, November 27, 2023, at her home in Charleston.

Born May 25,1943, at Charleston, MO, to the late Joseph Claude "Toots" Graham and Veda Mae Peevyhouse Graham, she had lived in Charleston most of her life.  She was a longtime employee of Charleston R-1 Schools where she worked in the kitchen at the high school and the middle school until her retirement.  Peggy attended the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church.

On June 24, 1960, she married William A. "Billy" Thurman, who preceded her in death on December 31, 1990.

Surviving are her daughters, Sherri Sue (Clifford) Payne, Carolyn Jean (Allan) Hale and Lisa Lynn Buttry; her grandchildren, Stephanie Nicole Payne, Michelle Ann (Daniel) Backfish, George Michael (Misty) Hatton, II, Christopher Allan (Christian) Hale, Jonathan William (Abby) Hale, Steven Paul Thurman and April Lynn (Ben) Schneider; 11 great grandchildren; her brothers, Larry Graham, Steve Graham, Wayne Graham and Jimmy Graham; her sister, Carla Groves; also a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lori Ann Thurman; her son in law, Billy Buttry; her brothers, Ronnie Graham, Danny Graham, Stanley Graham and Jake Graham and her sisters, Bonnie McClendon, Betty Keener and Debbie Cohen.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time for memorial services at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  J.T. Thompson, chaplain with VNA Hospice, will officiate.

Private interment will be at a later date at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
