Obituary

LYTLE BROOKS 'PETE' BINGHAM, Age 82, a resident of Charleston, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Charleston Manor.



Born August 4, 1929, at Saltillo, TN, to the late Lytle Boss and Mary Brooks Bingham, he was a 1947 graduate of Saltillo High School. He had lived in Charleston a number of years where he was employed for over 40 years as the foreman in the cutting room at the Brown Shoe Company. He then worked at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston and for 21 years served as the Building Supervisor of the First Baptist Church. A member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, he taught Sunday school a number of years and served as deacon. He was then named Deacon Emeritus.



On February 26, 1967, he married Helen Estes, who survives of the home.



Also surviving are: one son and daughter in law, Steve and Jennie Bingham of Bogart, GA; three daughters and two sons in law, Kathy Cheatham of Franklin, TN; Christy and Matt Pullen and Holly and Jason Lovel, all of Charleston; two brothers, Freddie Brooks and William (Sonny) Brooks both of Texas; two sisters, Sue Crow and Ann Williams both of Texas; seven grandchildren, Brad Bingham, Stephanie Langley, Harrison Cheatham, Dustin Pullen, Lenzi O'Connor, Austin O'Connor and Jacob Lovel; three great grandchildren, Lauren Bingham, Landon Bingham and Lawson Langley.



In addition to his parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.



Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Charleston. Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor, and his son Steve Bingham, will officiate.



Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Ray Presson, Roy Presson, Rick Smoot, Tim Layton, Eddie Barnhill and Joe Forrest.

Honorary pallbearers will be his close friends and remainder of Deacons of First Baptist Church.
