Mr. John W. "Pete" Dodgen, of East Prairie, MO, died on November 23, 2019, at the Heartland Care and Rebab Center in Cape Girardeau, after a short battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
Pete was born April 1, 1939 in Lone Oak, Arkansas, to the late John Wesley Dodgen and Beatrice McLean Dodgen. He had lived in East Prairie most of his life. Pete had a passion for his kids and grandkids, farming, being outdoors, and reading.
Survivors include a son John W. Dodgen III, and step-daughter Molly Brown Zielinski from his first marriage to Marylene Barker. Survivors from his later marriage include Sandra Thresher Dodgen of East Prairie, her children and grandchildren.
Survivors of his immediate family members include Mrs. Harold (Louise) Weakley, Mrs., David (Hazel) Brumley, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Ashley, Mrs. Bill (Vivian) Harris, and Mrs. Kenneth (Carolyn) Young.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his daughter, Melinda Jo Hahs, and his brother Joe Dodgen.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Martin Lucas of East Prairie, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
