Obituary

Mary Ann "Polly" Lewis, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.  She was born July 19, 1933 at Conway, Arkansas to the late Dee and Zella (Shipp) McMillen.  She was married to John Raymond "Jack" Lewis October 4, 1952 in New Madrid, and he preceded her in death April 23, 2001.

A resident of the New Madrid, Kewanee, Matthews and Sikeston areas most of her life, Polly was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church; had volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program, and she and Jack had been active members of the Sikeston Eagles Aries #3319 and the Sikeston Elks Lodge #2319.  She was retired from Southwestern Bell after many years service as an operator and later in their Engineering Department.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law:  Lynn and Regina Lewis of Mayfield, Kentucky; 2 daughters,; Paula Lewis and Mary Denise Lewis both of Sikeston; and 1 sister Vera Knapp of Imperial.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Robert Lewis, Lauri Pendel, Madolyn Watkins and Alexis Morgan; and by 3 great-grandchildren; Jack Lewis, Silas Pendel and Slade Pendel.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in  death by 2 daughters, Libby Lewis and Jacqueline Mason.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from 11:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.  Fr. David Dohogne, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.  Pallbearers will be Robert Lewis, Trent Pendel, Mason Watkins, Zac Morgan, Nathan Beck and Nick Beck.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral,com.
