Obituary

Preston Lee Williams, age 62, passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home near Sikeston, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 23, 1960, at Kermit, TX, to Vonna Cross Williams Russell, who survives of Sikeston, and the late Howard Glenn Williams. He lived in San Jose, CA until he was nine years old until his family moved to Durant, OK, where he was a 1978 graduate of Durant High School.  In 1989,  moved to Sikeston, MO where he would meet the love of his life and start their family.

Preston loved and cared for his family with all his heart. He loved telling jokes, enjoyed watching documentaries and was an avid Nascar fan. He loved vacationing in Panama City Beach, at Current River and anywhere with access to water.  For a number of years, he operated the family business, "The Williams Company", installing grain bins in Missouri and various states. He retired in September 2022.

On September 1, 1990, he married Dawn Michelle "Shelly" Baker, who survives.

In addition to wife and mother, he is survived by his sons, Andrew Milo Williams and Preston Lee Williams, II, both of Sikeston; his brother, Howard Williams and his wife Betty, and his nieces, Sharon Williams and Emily Kolvitz all of Creedmoor, NC; and a number of cousins and other relatives including his father and mother in law, Don and Rita Boardman Baker and his sister in law, Wendy and a number of "Baker" nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Russell; his brother-in-law, Donnell Michael Baker, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Cristy Baker-Neel; nephew, Heath Self; uncle, James Williams, and brother-in-law, Dewayne Self.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Jennifer Moxley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jared Self, Brent Self, Elizabeth Clark, Martha Neel, Mark Newman and Trey Wilson.
