Obituary

RAY EUGENE IVIE, age 88, of East Prairie, died Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Bertrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 24, 1934, in the Sassafras Ridge Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late Oscar Herman Ivie and Willie Ethel Lindsey Ivie, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life.  Self-employed several years, he had been employed with DAEOC and the East Prairie Schools until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Surviving is his daughter, Michelle Ivie (David) Brashear of Diehlstadt; two grandsons, Trey Drury of Sikeston, and Trenton Brashear of Diehlstadt; three stepsons, Perry (Lisa) Jones, Gordon (Karen) Jones and Joe (Mala) Jones; six step grandsons, Kevin Jones, Travis Jones, Allen Jones, Gaylen Jones, Lucas Jones and Matthew Jones; one step granddaughter, Kendall Lee; several step great grandchildren; one brother, Russell Ivie; and several nieces and nephews.  Also, surviving are his former wives, Betty Shankle Ivie, and Ruth Tanksley Ivie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Doyle Jones; his brothers and sisters, Roy Franklin Ivie, Ralph Ivie, Walter Ivie, Barry Ivie, Jimmy Ivie, Martha Bennett, Geneva Childers and two brothers and one sister who died in infancy.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Dawn Walters, pastor of the First Church of God in East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment with military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be David Brashear, Tony Childers, Brady Jackson, Gordon Jones, Larry Ivie, and Paul Ruff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Brashear, Trey Drury and Trenton Brashear.
