REV. RAYMOND E. GRIMES, Age 95, died at 10:05 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at his home in East Prairie.

Born April 8, 1916, in Ellington, MO to the late Samuel E. and Mary Elizabeth White Grimes, he moved to East Prairie in 1929. On March 31, 1976, he was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister and served at the Anniston Baptist Church a number years and then at the Barnes Ridge Baptist Church for 18 years. He was employed with the East Prairie Police Department a number of years as a police officer and then as humane officer until his retirement.

On January 9, 1937, he married Lela Bell Woods who preceded him in death on November 16, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Grimes and Danny Grimes; three daughters, Elizabeth Grimes, Deloris Grimes and Loretta Woods; one grandson, Michael Ray Grimes; one granddaughter, Jennifer Grimes; one great grandson, Alex Johnson; one great granddaughter, Sarah Herrgesell; one brother, Edward Grimes; and three sisters, Lucille Weems, Virginia Cogdill and Hazel Williams.

Surviving are: two sons, Larry Grimes and Jerry Grimes both of East Prairie; one daughter, Pamela Jernigan of East Prairie; three sisters, Aline Beard of St. Louis, Thelma Allen of Illinois and Earline Tinney of California; 21 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date near the Mississippi River.
