Rhonda Gaye Poore Abner, age 66, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.

Born August 29, 1956, at Wyatt, MO, to the late James Otto Poore and Shirley Ruth Hunt Poore, she was a 1974 graduate of East Prairie High School.  She had been employed with Brown Shoe Company in Charleston several years.  She lived in Texas for five years and returned to Mississippi County in 1983 where she remained here the rest of her life.   Rhonda worked as a home health assistant and had attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

On May 10, 1975, she married David Charles Abner, Sr., who survives of the home.

Also surviving is her grandson, Chance David Abner; her brother, Craig (Sara) Poore; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Charles Abner, Jr.; her brothers, Cirt Matthew Poore and Rodney Lecile Poore and her sister, Rosemary Poore Newman.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Chance Abner, Mike Newman, Hank Abner, Edward Smith, Cody Smith and Randy Shands.
