RICHARD P. PIKE SR., age 86, a resident of Charleston, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Charleston Manor.
Born in the Big Lake Community of Mississippi County on April 21, 1930 to the late Noel F. and Alice S. Merrick Pike, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life. A graduate of St. Henry Catholic High School, he was a lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church where he had served on the Parish Board, and the Building Committee where he was instrumental in undertaking restoration projects for church and school maintenance. Although well known as a landowner and farmer, he was continually involved in other ventures such as Mounds Transportation Company which was responsible for cleaning rail road cars. His many business ventures secured him the title as a "Jack of all Trades". He was in the US Air Force from 1948 – 1954, and served in active duty during the Korean conflict.
On May 15, 1952 he married Mary A. Scott who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three children, Debbie Robertson of Charleston, Richard "Ricky" Pike of Jackson, and Sherrie Heppe (Randy Hubbert) of Charleston; one brother, John (Jackie) Pike of Kingsland, TX; seven grandchildren, Vadra (Matt) Selenske of Almond, WI, Justin (Summer) Robertson of Tucson, AZ, Sara Jane Robertson of Poplar Bluff, Christopher (Stacey), Nicole, and Eli Pike all of Jackson; and Brent (Justine) Heppe of Benton; also six (soon to be seven) great grandchildren; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by one daughter in law, Cecelie Elliott Pike; one sister, Hazel Lochridge; and one brother, Frank Pike.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
Father Patrick Ike Nwokoye, pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church, will serve as Celebrant.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites at the Calvary Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Earl Criss, Allen Damron, Tommy Showmaker, Danny Duenne, David Scott and Jim Rolwing.
