Obituary

Richard D. Rodgers, 60, a life long
resident of Sikeston, died Sunday,
Jan. 13, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau. He was born May 13, 1952 in Sikeston to the late Earl R. Rodgers and Nellie Elizabeth "Betty" (Bizzell) Rodgers Grissom. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era, had been employed in the shipping department at Stanley Muffler at East Prairie and was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. On Jan. 27, 1971 he was married to Martha Ann Lasters at Canalou and she survives of the home. He is also survived by 2 daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer Anderson of Texas and Sarah & Jack Arington of Sikeston. Two brothers, Gary Rodgers and Johnny Rodgers both of Sikeston; 1 sister, Debra Arms of Sikeston; 1 step-brother, Michael Grissom of Forrest City, Ark; and by three grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Orville Grissom and 1 step-brother, John Grissom.
Friends may call at Old Bethel Baptist Church from 9:30 am Wednesday Jan. 16, 2013 and until time for services at 11:30 am with
Rev. Steve Vester, the pastor officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2 pm at the Missouri State Veteans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Active pallbearers will be Kyle Rodgers, Eric Rodgers, Jack Arington, Carl McClain, Loyd Latham and Dan Limbaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Katelyn Cray, Abby Haley and Christian Haley.
