Obituary

RICHARD ALLEN WILLIAMS, 75, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at his home in Wyatt.

Born November 3, 1943, in East Prairie, MO, to the late Allen Lee "Jack" Williams and Ella Mae Brumley Williams, he had lived in Mississippi County most of his life. At a young age, he drove a truck for his dad at the alfalfa mill in East Prairie. As a U.S. Navy Veteran of six years, he was selected by his shipmates as the Sailor of the Month in April of 1964. As a supply clerk, he was stationed in Dallas, TX, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Following his military service, he was employed with the Burrows Medical Supply Company for over 25 years. He was then employed with Schwan's and later as a maintenance worker for Flying J and TA until his retirement.

He took great pride in sharing stories about his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with his old trucks, painting, listening to classic county music, fishing, and participating in Civil War Re-Enactments.

In 2001, he married Phylis June Fitch, who survives of the home in Wyatt.

Also surviving are his children, Timothy Allen (Ida) Williams of Wyatt; Tamara Ellen (Missy Waldman) Williams of Olivette and Tonya Ella Williams-Fitzgerald (James Secrease) of Festus; his grandchildren, Joseph Miller (Katie Logan), James (Megan) Williams, Macie Fitzgerald; great granddaughter, Mila Danlee Williams; a host of cousins and his dog, Skippy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his great granddaughter, Lula Colleen Williams and the mother of his children, Judith Ellen Brown Williams.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment with full military honors will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
