Richard Eugene "Rick" Peters, age 71, formerly of Bertrand, MO, died Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center in Charleston, IL.

Rick was born October 31, 1950, to the late John Albert Peters, Sr. and Mabel Ann Woods Peters and was a farmer most of his life.   Rick was a longtime Jaycee and had held memberships in the Sikeston Bootheel Jaycees and the Arcola, IL Jaycees.  He custom built pedal tractors for the Jaycee events.  He loved fishing, attending high school foot ball games and most importantly, spending time with his family.

On June 29, 1985, he married Christie Peters, who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Angela (Jacob) Butler of Charleston, IL; Josh (Jennifer) Peters of Arthur, IL and Jared Peters of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Abigail Austin, Wyatt Austin, Duston Sawyer, Isaiah Sawyer and Josie Sawyer; his brothers and sisters, Mike Peters, Jerry Peters, Larry Peters, Dianne Babb and Donna Peters; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James David Peters, Albert "Junior" Peters, Jr., and Steven Peters and his sisters, Barbara Miller, Dorothy Elser and Betty Crook.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO.  Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Gary Stenger, Kevin Huckstep, Jacob Butler, Brent Peters, Scott Peters and Nathan Guthrie.
