Obituary

Robert Forrest Chandler, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home in Texarkana, Arkansas following an extended illness.

He was born on October 17, 1941 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Laudie Forrest and Elzetta Jordan Chandler.

Robert grew up in Charleston and attended Charleston Public School. He was employed as a bricklayer for Quertermous Construction in Charleston before joining the United States Army where he served in Vietnam and was awarded a Service Medal for Expert Marksmanship. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to Texarkana, Arkansas where he worked with his brother at Chandler Construction until his retirement in 2018.

In November of 1990, he married Janet Housman in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They were married 27 years before her passing in 2017. They have one daughter, Angie Chandler Green.

Robert loved life, loved his family, loved to laugh and would give you the shirt off of his back. He lived his life with integrity, hard work, and was loved and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Robert is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Dwayne Green of Texarkana, Texas; one granddaughter and one grandson, Leah and Logan Green of Texarkana, Texas; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Freda and Glenn Quertermous of Charleston, Missouri, Martha Norris of Marble Hill, Missouri, Mary Ann Jones and Debbie Chandler of Charleston, Missouri; three brothers and sister-in-laws, Will and Lorna Chandler of Texarkana, Arkansas, Forrest and Susie Chandler of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Joe and Lisa Chandler of Charleston, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, one brother, Billy Chandler, and one sister, Zetta Bell.

Pallbearers will be Warren Palmer, Larry Brown, Jackie Whiteside, Glenn Quertermous, Kent Chandler and Chris Chandler.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August, 8, 2020, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Warren Palmer, Larry Brown, Jackie Whiteside, Glenn Quertermous, Kent Chandler and Chris Chandler.
