Obituary

Robert Berry Hooper, age 75, of Sikeston, died Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

Born January 7, 1950, at Bertrand, MO, to the late Jess Lee Hooper and Vivian Skelton Hooper, he lived in Bertrand all of his young life.  Robert would go on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and would be honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal.  After returning from his time in the service, he would move to the Bement community, where he and his wife would start their family.  They would later move to Sikeston.  Bob loved gardening and fishing.

On September 20, 1969, he married Bobbye Lou Scott, and she survives of the home.

His loves were his wife; his son, Berry Scott Hooper and his wife, Meredith Whitehead Hooper; his granddaughter, Soma Grace Hooper; additional survivors include his sister, Sandy (John) Evans; his niece, LeeAnn McDowell; his nephews, James Evans and Hugh M. Gilmore; his sister in law and brother in law, Gloria Scott Crowley and John Crowley; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law, Amos Scott and Mary Grace Leigh Scott and his sister in law, Mary Ruth Scott.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Family and friends may then assemble for graveside services with full military honors at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Crowley, Ben Whitehead, Ron Gnaegy, Harold Hooper, Hugh M. Gilmore, James Evans and Ryan Logan.
