Obituary
Robert Vernon Nelson, age 80, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at his residence in Bertrand.
He was born April 8, 1935 in Tell City, IN to the late Robert and Evelyn Cameron Nelson Sr. He farmed in Tel City until enlisting with the US Army where he served from 1949 – 1958, and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Tel City where he farmed and raised pigs and chickens. He continued to farm following his move to FL in 1982 then to Anderson, SC. He retired and moved to Bertrand in 2010 where he was a member of the United Methodist Church.
On February 18, 1997, he married Ruth Elizabeth Gingell, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is one son, Robert Nelson of Anderson, SC.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Bertrand with the pastor, Rev. Lois McRill, officiating.
