Obituary

ROBERTA HICKEY DAVIDSON, Age 83, a resident of Charleston, died at 5:05 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.

Born June 25, 1927, at Dover, Arkansas, to the late David Clinton and Ethilda Harwell Hickey, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. A 1946 graduate of Diehlstadt High School, she received a teaching degree from Southeast Missouri State University and taught school in rural Wyatt for a number of years. She and her late husband farmed in Mississippi County for 36 years and she was the coordinator of the DAEOC program in the Pinhook Community in the late 1960's.

On February 4, 1949, she married Vance Davidson, who preceded her in death, July 5, 1985.

Surviving are: three daughters and sons in law, Kay and Kenneth Bowman of Bertrand; Sharon and Mike Underhill of Sikeston and Vanessa and Dale Glenn of Charleston; four sisters and two brothers in law, Allene Sevic of Wyatt; Glenna and Charles Linebaugh of Valparaiso, IN; Donna Pemberton of Farmington and Jane and Mike DeField of Plainfield, IN; six grandchildren, Rob Bowman of Kennesaw, GA; Adam Glenn of Yosemite National Park, CA; Katie Bowman of Charleston; Lana Glenn of Cape Girardeau; Megan Underhill of Springfield and Vance Davidson of Tifton, GA

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert C. Davidson on August 23, 1971 and James "Jim" Davidson on February 7, 2004.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Jack Feezor, Tim Layton, Max Carlyle, Scott Glenn, Don Gage and Lanie Black.
