Obituary

ROGER LEWIS YORK, age 59, a resident of East Prairie died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born May 18, 1951 in Clinton, SC to Rio Rita Paschall York who survives of Phoenix, AZ and the late Claude Lewis York. He lived in Chicago, IL most of his life and had moved to East Prairie in 1988. He was a truck driver, truck mechanic, and had been employed as manager at the TA Truckstop in Matthews. Roger had a "heart of gold" and would do all he could to help those in need.

Surviving are one son, Shane York of St. Louis; one daughter, Amber Mayfield of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, David York of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Judy Thompson and Edith Worley both of Phoenix, AZ, Claudia Skilton of Salem, NH, and Paula Lemear of Manchester, NH; also two granddaughters, Charlize and Katelin Mayfield of Phoenix, AZ; and his special friend, Kaye Kirby of East Prairie.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pamela Jean Royal and Susan Diane Bond.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until the Funeral Hour at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Mike Johnson, Pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Bevill Cemetery in Paris, TN under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
