Obituary

Ronald Ross "Ron" Williams, 72, died Friday, July 10, 2015 at Miner Nursing Center. He was born Feb. 14, 1943 in Manila, Arkansas to the late Bill & Macie (Davis) Williams. Ron was a graduate of Arkansas State University at Jonesboro and a very active member of Miner Baptist Church. He especially loved music having been involved with the Children's Church Choir for over 35 years. He was also very involved in his community as a school band director at Marble Hill and Sikeston for six years, then owned Collins Music from 1972 until 1986 when he became an insurance agent operating out of his home with his wife, Brenda, until his health failed. He enjoyed being a member of Jazz and Dixieland Bands, was an avid golfer and loved quail hunting. He was first married to Sallie Carter and then married Brenda Jones on July 27, 1986 in Sikeston, she survives of the home. Also surviving are: 1 son and daughter-in-law, Brian (Kelly) Williams of Lexington, Ky; 1 daughter and son-in-law Julia (Duane) Andres of Lexington; and 2 step-daughters, Shelley (Marshall) McTigue of Sikeston and Carrie Miller of Harrisonville; 8 grandchildren, Autumn, LeAnna, Grayson, Summer (Eric), Ross (Zury), Brynna, Carson and Collin; and 4 great-grandchildren, Soli, Maddison, Chloe & Landyn. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by one sister in infancy. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Monday, July 13 at Miner Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Miner Baptist Church at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 14 with Rev. Mitch Jackson, the pastor officiating. The eulogy will be provided by Darryl Griggs and special trumpet music in his honor will be presented by Darren Steelman. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be Donald Jones, Jimmy Jones, Dan Ahlfield, Andy McIntosh, Andy Jones and Gary Ryan.
