ROY O. McKINNEY, Age 84, formerly of Fillmore, IL and Chicago, IL, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at the home of his son in Charleston.

Born September 9, 1932, at Dante, VA, to the late Tom and Ruby Williams McKinney, he was born and raised in Dante, moving to Chicago in 1960 where he raised his family. He moved to Fillmore in 1997 and then to Charleston with his son in 2008. For over 40 years he was employed in the paper industry as a paper cutter. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran.

On April 22, 1958, he married Sara Gilley, who preceded him in death on May 21, 1999.

Surviving are his children, Clarissa (Kevin) Dolan and Delilah (Ted) Pfeifer all of Chicago, and Rev. Michael (Lillian) McKinney of Charleston, MO; his grandchildren, Justin (Tressa) Michna and Leslie Pfeifer of Chicago; Joshua McKinney, Daniel (Megan) McKinney and Hannah McKinney all of Charleston; one great-grandaughter, McKenna Michna of Chicago; one brother, Ray (Trudy) McKinney of Harlan County, KY; one sister, Ruby Moore of Johnson City, TN; also a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Diane, Ruth, Juanita and one brother, Tommy.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston where Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Bro. Art Robinson, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Glendale Cemetery at Fillmore, IL under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
