Ruby Mae Purdy, 89, a resident of Sikeston most of her life, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 at Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born April 18, 1926 in Oran to the late Ralph Boone and Mildred (Kinsey) Boone Finley. She was married to Marvin Purdy Aug. 14, 1941 in Charleston and he preceded in death November 7, 1974. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 1 son, Charles "Chuck" Purdy, 1 granddaughter, Melanie Renee Purdy and by one sister, and her step-father, Charlie Finley. She had worked as retail store clerk and for the Foster Grandparents Program and was a member of the Henry Meldrum Post of the American Legion Auxillary and the Sikeston Eagle Aries #3319. Survivors include one son, Ralph Edward Purdy of Wylie, Texas; 2 daughters, Carolyn Happe and Charlotte "Gaile" Presley both of the home; one half-sister, Charlene Fregia of Baytown, Texas; and 8 grandchildren. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 12 noon until time for memorial service at 1:00 pm, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Rev. Allen Basham, Pastor of Cape First Church of Sikeston officiating.
