RUBY ANN SMITH SHANKS, age 74, of Sikeston, died Sunday, February 21, 2021, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born October 17, 1946, at Caruthersville, MO, to the late James Wesley Smith and Willie Demetrice Dover Smith. She had lived in Sikeston a number of years where she had been employed a number of years with Burch Food Service as a supervisor.  She attended the Charleston Church of Christ where she was baptized April 26, 1987. She was active in many areas of the church including the greeting card ministry to homebound members and those in nursing homes.

On May 29, 1962, she married Charles Shanks, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her children, Eric Shanks of Sikeston, Joseph (Johnna) Shanks of Jefferson City, MO and Lorie (Keith) Campbell of Troy, MO; her brothers and sister, James Smith, Garry Smith and Judy Whitehead all of Charleston; her grandchildren, Adam (Nicole) Campbell of Chicago, IL, Megan Campbell of Troy, Kolebe Shanks of Sikeston, Jonathan Shanks, Jessica Shanks and Jacob Shanks all of Jefferson City; as well as her dear niece, Abby Whitehead, and nephew, Spencer (Melissa) Whitehead and his children Hudson and Adalynd Whitehead as well as a number of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Pete Nuthak, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
