Ruth Mildred Bruce, 95, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Delta South Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 24, 1923, in Essex to the late Louie & Minnie (Trotter) Brasier.

A resident of Sikeston the past 20 years, she had previously lived in Granite City, Illinois, where she was a member of West 22nd Street Baptist Church; she had also attended Taylor Baptist Church. She had worked in physical therapy at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

On June 29, 1941, she was married to Hollis Vernon Bruce at Gray Ridge, Missouri, and he preceded her in death March 3, 2000.

She is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Herman Willhite of Cabool and by 1 sister Vivian Burch of Sikeston. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 sister, Verba Burch.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, from 11:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dwayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church will officiate.

Interment will be at 2:00 pm Friday, June 7 at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates Cemetery at Glen Carbon, Illinois, under the direction of Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
