Ruth Lynn Estes, age 94, of Bertrand, died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the home of her son and daughter in law, in Sikeston.

She was born November 17, 1929, at Cooter, MO, to the late James Lafate Richardson and Martha Irene Cain Richardson.  She was one of six children.  She lived most of her life in Bertrand where she attended the Church of God of Prophecy. Ruth loved the Lord and her church family.  She served as church treasurer, taught Sunday school and played the piano and sang for many years.

She was the owner of Charleston Ice and Coal for many years and had also been employed with the Brown Shoe Company until in 1971. At that time, she opened Ruth's Beauty Salon, which she operated until her retirement in 2014 at the age of 85.

On December 21, 1952, she married Floyd William Eggers, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1981.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Teresa) Eggers of Sikeston; her brother, Dwight (Londa) Richardson of Cleveland, TN; two grandchildren, Tiffany Riley and Brandon (Kaitlyn) Byrd of Sikeston; and six great grandchildren.  She so loved her many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Alvin "Buddy" Richardson and her sisters, Mary Alice Winckel, Shirley Ann Cline and Billie Jean Hiles.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Music for the service will be provided by her brother, Dwight, and the spoken word and message will be brought by her sister-in-law, Londa.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Chadd James, Bob Garrett, Chuck Venable, Darrin Skinner, Russ Skinner and Brandon Byrd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Riley and Dylan Riley.
