Ruth Nunn Reeves, age 89, of rural Charleston, died Friday, April 12, 2024, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born January 26, 1935, at Anniston, MO, to the late Otha Nunn and Gertie Smith Nunn, she was a 1952 graduate of Anniston High School where she had played on the basketball team. Having lived in Mississippi County her entire life, she was always involved in the family business and farming operation but chose to stay in the background. A selfless and caring person, Ruth loved her family immensely and always put her husband and children and their families first. She was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church.
On September 3, 1954, she married the love of her life, Stephen Wallace Reeves, and he survives of the home.
Together they raised their three children, Sharon (Clifford) Rolwing, Judie Reeves (Terry) Pittman and Stephanie (Jeff) Sloan; their grandchildren, Stephen (Angie) Groves, Summer (Cody) Vanover, Christopher Shelby and Zachary Wilkins; great grandchildren, Noah (Erica) Groves, Jada-Lynn Griggs, Carson Groves, Jayci Vanover, Cody Ray Vanover, River Vanover, Cade Shelby, Corban Shelby, Channing Shelby and Kaisen Shelby; her great great grandchildren, Navee Groves and Vallee Groves; also surviving is her brother, Roy Nunn and her sister, Beauton Prayor and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Andrew Reeves Shelby, and her brothers and sisters, James David Nunn, Charles Nunn, Beatrice Sweeney, Betty Babcock and Loretta Tatum.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Jon Archie, pastor of Elm Street Baptist Church will officiate.
A private family burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, plants and gift items, the family kindly requests memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
