Ruth Ivanell Staples, age 87, died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at her residence in Sikeston.

Born September 7, 1934, at New Madrid County, to the late Carl L. and Elvina Henson Taylor. Ruth loved her family, she was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to be outside, whether it was bird watching, being a Cub Scout/Girl Scout troop leader or hunting and fishing with her husband. Ruth loved being a "room mother" at the school and helping with all the parties. She was of Baptist faith and attended several churches serving as a Sunday school teacher. Ruth loved to crochet and doing her word search puzzles. She was a fierce woman, and would definitely tell it like it is.

On July 7, 1956, she married Howard "Pat" Staples, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1987.

Surviving are her children, Linda Raper of Sikeston and Mark T. (Kaye) Staples, of Charleston; her grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Boese of Sikeston and Jennifer (Jeff) Massey of St. Louis and her great grandchildren, Wyatt Meredith, Katie Staples, Noah Massey and Emma Massey.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Marion Taylor.

A Graveside Service followed by Interment will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston,  Chad Bles will officiate.
