Mary Ruthie Toon Richardson, 71, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home in Platte City, MO.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; immediately followed by a 2:30 p.m. memorial service, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.

Ruthie was born October 27, 1942 in Crosno, MO to Elmer and Birdie (Keen) Toon.
She married Robert Lee Richardson on March 13, 1965 in St. Louis, MO.

Ruthie was a graduate of the Anniston MO High School. Over the years, Ruthie lived in the St. Louis, Phoenix, Tucson, and Weston, MO areas, until moving to Platte City, where she lived for the last 14 years. She was last employed as a processor for the Platte County Title Co. in Platte City. Ruthie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Platte City. She loved to read, and was a real "people person", who enjoyed being around people at work, and throughout every aspect of life. Most of all, Ruthie loved spending time with her family, enjoying various outings, including camping.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Charles "Butch" Toon.

Ruthie is survived by: her husband Bob, of the home; her son Brian (Shelly) Richardson of Platte City; 4 brothers Bill (Diane) Toon of Glen Carbon, IL, Richard (Debbie) Toon of Atlanta, GA, James (Shelly) Toon of Jacksonville, FL, and Anthony (Sheryl) Toon of Anniston, MO; 2 sisters Jennifer (Darryl) Buchanan of Benton, MO, and Judy Shaw of Ft. Meyers, FL; and her grandson Jake Richardson.
