SAM BABB

WOODROW SAMUEL 'SAM' BABB, JR, 71, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at his home near Bertrand.

Born October 12, 1947, at Cairo, IL, to the late Woodrow Samuel "W.S." Babb and Vivian Cox Babb, he was a 1965 graduate of Charleston High School and had obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Bethel College at McKenzie, TN, with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in business and a minor in biology. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston where he had served as president of the church board and taught Sunday school a number of years. The owner and operator of Babb Farms, he would often substitute teach at Charleston High School when time permitted. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

On November 30, 1996, he married Connie Loucille Lovett, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving are one sister, Carol Babb Draffen and her husband Jim Draffen of Calvert City, KY; his brother in law, Jim Lovett and sister in law, Mary Lou Taylor; also, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2019. Rev. Don Tabor of Brentwood, TN and Rev. Joe Mooney, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Rudy Ponder, Bill Ponder, Ronnie Rolwing, Lee Putnam, Hunter Ely and John Goodin.
