Samella McCatrey Pettigrew, age 49, of Charleston entered her eternal home, Friday, August 9, 2024, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born December 18, 1974, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Robert Lee Hines and Essie Mae Owens McCatrey, she had lived in Charleston her entire life.   "Sam" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was no stranger to hard work.  She was a loving yet determined person and gave her all when working as a Certified Nurses Aid.   She was employed at Charleston Manor and Bertrand Nursing Center for many years.

She married David Pettigrew who survives.

Also surviving in addition her husband and mother are her children, Jonathan (Torri) McCatrey, Ashley Renee (Deon Hemmingway) McCatrey, Autruina Lontria McCatrey, and Rodney (Beth) Johnson of Charleston; three grandchildren, Karlee McCatrey, Kylee McCatrey and Raheem Johnson; her brothers, and sisters, Curtis (Diane) McCatrey, Steve McCatrey, Tony McCatrey, Mareco McCatrey, Robert (Tiffany) Hines, Carolyn Riley, Nicole (Robin) McCatrey, Mary Ann McCatrey; and a house of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, LaDonna McCatrey.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Pastor Floyd Wade will officiate.
