Obituary
SAMUEL PRESTON "SAM" IRBY, Age 70, died at 2:30 a.m., Sunday, August 23, 2009 at his home in East Prairie.
He was born August 22, 1939, in Mississippi County to the late William "Bill" and Ruby Thompson Irby. He had lived in East Prairie most of his life and was a landscaper.
On June 4, 1998, he married Ethel Louise "Lucy" Carter who survives of the home in East Prairie.
Also surviving are: one son, Mark Dodge of Poplar Bluff; four stepsons, Wayne (Deloris) Achter of East Prairie, Allen (Karla) Achter of Sikeston, Jimmy Achter of St. Louis and Mike (Heather) Achter of Ellsinore; one step daughter, Lisa Marie Sizemore of East Prairie; two sisters, Jo Ann Kemp of Immokalee, FL and Vivian Smith of Michigan; 3 grandchildren and 16 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl B. Irby, J.R. Irby, Charles Irby, Gayle Irby and Jackie Irby and by two sisters, Betty Snider and Shirley Ann Irby.
The body was cremated and there will be no services.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
