IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel Ray
Oatsvall
June 30, 1984 – April 22, 2025
On April 22, 2025, East Prairie resident, Samuel Ray Oatsvall, age 40, passed away.
Born at Camp Lejeune, NC, on June 30, 1984, to Randy A. Oatsvall and Kathleen A. Clark Oatsvall, Sam lived a life filled with a passion for motorcycles, tinkering around with engines and electronics, spending time with his family and friends and taking his beloved dogs on motorcycle rides.
Sam was a carpenter by trade. He always loved working with his hands and eventually took up the hobby of tattooing along with riding his motorcycle, because he loved the freedom that the road had to offer. He was a very creative and funny character, often showing off his best impersonation of dinosaurs to make his sisters laugh. Anyone who met Sam always said he was a true friend and would do anything for his family and friends. Sam always managed to have a solution for almost any situation.
Sam had strong values when it came to his family and his faith in God. In 2004, Sam took an oath to our country and served a brief time in the United States Marine Corps. Afterwards, his bond with his dad grew even deeper. They would spend hours talking about their experiences as Marines.
Another hobby Sam shared with his dad was crappie fishing. Sam was pretty much born with a fishing pole in his hands. Many of those fishing trips included camping at number 7 island where so many memories were made. The older Sam got he loved to talk about his high school days. Those were always his favorite years of his life. Sam and his older sister, Katie, were members of the class of 2002, both were members of the LINK yearbook staff where Sam was the photographer. They were both members of the East Prairie High School track and field team together.
Mary, Sam's younger sister, took it upon herself to make sure he took time for self-care. He confided pretty much everything to her even when it was hard. He always felt that Mary should know everything. Mary has always been the most level headed so he felt a deep bond with her.
Sam was definitely a momma's boy. She affectionately referred to him as her Hambone. Earlier this year he drove across country to be at her side while she was in the I.C.U. unit recovering from a medical scare. Sam would do anything for his Momma.
Sam is survived by his momma, Kathy Clark of Greeley, CO; his two sisters, Mary-Lea (Dustin) Anderson of Grand Chain, IL and Katie-Marie (William Jr.) Oatsvall-Jackson of East Prairie, MO; his nieces and nephews, Cooper Oatsvall, Jaylea Anderson, Brady Jackson, Alivia Jackson, Reagan Anderson; two great nephews, Slayden Wyatt Brown-Oatsvall and Waylon Lee Allen Oatsvall; his maternal grandmother, Mary Clark of Greeley, CO; a very special little girl, Liberty Grace; his late father's girlfriend, Talicha Stephens of Wyatt; his beloved dogs, Ace and AllyCat; two very special friends that became Sam's only living brothers, Brian K. Carden and Benji Brown; also a number of aunts, uncles and cousins survive.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Randy Allen Oatsvall; paternal grandparents, Larry and Mary Oatsvall Cooper; maternal grandfather, Gerald Clark; his little brother lost before birth, Hershel Oatsvall; paternal great grandparents, Hershel and Audrey Shannon Oatsvall and J.B. and Imo Powell Cooper; maternal great grandparents, Melvin and Mable Clark and John Arthur and Gladys O'Brien; his beloved uncles, Kenneth Ray Oatsvall, Bobby Gene Oatsvall, Bruce Clark and James Burns and his special friends, David Allen and Perry Anderson.
