Obituary

SARAH BELLE NULL HOUSEWRIGHT, age 95, of Charleston, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Charleston Manor.

Born December 18, 1922, in the Lusk Chapel Community of rural Scott County, MO, to the late Henry Lawrence and Susie Roach Null, she was a 1940 graduate of the Diehlstadt High School. She lived in Cairo, IL for several years where she was employed at the "Dotty Shop" moving back to Charleston in 1951. For over 33 years she was employed with Brown Shoe Company in Charleston until her retirement. A long-time and active member of the First Christian Church of Charleston, she worked in many areas of the church, including church socials and had served as Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Athena Club of Charleston and had enjoyed bowling with her husband in years past and especially playing cards with the ladies in her "Card Club".

On April 29, 1945, she married Charles E. Housewright, who preceded her in death, November 15, 2000.

Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Vicki and Richard Hutcheson of Charleston; her granddaughter and grandson in law, Sara and Michael Daugherty of Festus; two grandchildren, Logan Daugherty and Lyndsay Daugherty. Also, a number of nieces and nephews, survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Holmes and Alfie Null and by three sisters, Jewel Schneider, Eathel Scheffer and Pauline Freeland.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the McMikle Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Joe Mooney, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Logan Daugherty, Charles Freeland, Johnny Schneider, Cully Donaldson, Bradley Housewright and Steve Housewright.
