Shirley Jean Thompson Moore, age 81, died Thursday, May 15, 2025, at her home in Benton, MO.

Born November 22, 1943, at Charleston, MO, to the late Leonard Earl Thompson and Dorothy Lou Byrd Thompson, she was a graduate of Charleston Schools.  Shirley was no stranger to hard work, first beginning her employment when she lived in Memphis with the Sealtest Dairy Company. She later moved back to Charleston and later the Benton area and was employed with First Security Bank (now Focus Bank).  Shirley was then employed for over 30 years with Cargill until her retirement.  She attended the Unity Baptist Church at Benton.

On July 13, 2002, she married Roy William Moore, Jr., and he survives of the home.

Also surviving is her daughter, Rhonda (Richard) Raithel of Sikeston; her grandsons, Travis (Heather) Raithel of East Prairie and Tristan (Mandi) Raithel of Jackson; great grandchildren, Haylee, Travis Lee, Jr., Lyndsi, Damian and Maggie; two great great grandchildren, Oakley and Kohen; her sister, Darlene Matthews of Marble Hill, MO; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lonnie Earl Thompson and her sisters, Linda Bailey and Sharon Gustafson.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Unity Baptist Church in Benton. Pastor Dennis Lowe will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be TJ Raithel, Danny Ray, Matt Smith, Stormy Hirsch, Cecil Ray, Caleb Burton and Ryan Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Jones and Tony Gemeinhardt.
