Stella Marie McDermott, 71, of Charleston, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born October 27, 1947, at Charleston, to the late Earl Wesley Sindle and Esther Lillian Johnson Sindle, she had lived in Charleston her entire life and was a graduate of Charleston High School. She had worked as a cook most of her life in the Charleston area, retiring from Southeast Correctional Center. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Bertrand.
On February 3, 1967, she married James Edward McDermott, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2010.
Surviving are her sons, Wesley (Amanda) McDermott of Charleston and David (Bethany) McDermott; her sisters, Jane (Jerry) Sisk of Tucson, AZ and Elsie (Curtis) Gross of Grassy; her grandchildren, Madyson McDermott, Cole McDermott, Katelyn McDermott, Even Ebert and Hannah McDermott.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Earl Sindle.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Larry Kirby, will officiate. Eddie Grooms will offer a eulogy.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Cole McDermott, Evan Ebert, Iric Farmer, James Williams, Anthony Moody and Charlie Kuykendall.
