Stephen Joseph "Steve" Coleman, 69, of Charleston, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born April 2, 1951 in Gideon to Bensen and Vergie Thurman Coleman. Following high school graduation he enlisted in the US Marines. He served in Vietnam for six years in the Military Police as Nuclear Weapons Security. Upon his discharge he had achieved the rank of Sergeant and the necessary certification to be employed as a Public Safety Officer. He was employed as a Sergeant with Charleston Department of Public Safety for twenty three and half years until his health forced retirement in 2001. During his retirement he purchased property in Fairdealing where he and his wife, Sheri, operated a "hobby farm" with horses, cows, and a menagerie of animals until they moved back to Charleston in 2015.
In 2006 he married Sheri Glass who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one step son, Scott (Jennifer) Robertson of San Diego, CA; one sister in law, Jackie Coleman of Dexter; and his father in law, Bob Glass of Charleston; and three very special fur babies, Ripley, Gunny and Jinger.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rickie Coleman and Mike Coleman and his mother in law, Margaret Glass.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
