Steve Stokes

Stephen Paul "Steve" Stokes, age 55, died March 22, 2020, at his home in East Prairie, Missouri.

Born October 21, 1964, in East Prairie, to the late Nesby and Opal B. (Worthy) Stokes, he was employed as a long time teacher and coach in the East Prairie community.  He was well known for his sense of humor, passion for people and life, and his ability to bring out the best in everyone, on and off the field and court.  He always supported, encouraged, and promoted others selflessly.

He leaves behind his beloved partner of almost 30 years, Terry Sprinkles; two daughters: Nicole and her husband Brandon of Bonne Terre, MO; and Kimberly and her husband Hunter of Sedalia, MO; three brothers and one sister: Kenny Stokes of Colstrip, MT; Johnny Stokes of East Prairie, MO; Michael Stokes of Kewanee, MO; and Debbie Stokes of East Prairie, MO; as well as many loving friends and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel and Freddie Stokes.

Private family visitation and services will be held at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston with interment to follow at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

A public Celebration of Life will be scheduled as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have been lifted.
