SUEFFIE ELIZBETH PEMBERTON, age 80, a resident of Monroe, MI and formerly of Bertrand, MO, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe.
Born December 19, 1933, at Success, AR, to the late David Leroy and Nola Cordelia Belcher Hill, she had lived in Bertrand a number of years, moving to Michigan four years ago.
On May 14, 1950, she married Alvin L. Banks, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 9, 1977. She then married Elton Gibson who preceded her in death in December 1978. On October 22, 1988, she married Elzie Pemberton who preceded her in death on December 18, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Dale (Margaret) Banks of,Monroe, MI and Terry (Bonnie) Banks of Belleville, MI; two daughters, Iva Sue (Michael) Call of Brooklyn, MI; and Sharon Cooper of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Banks of Hutson, MI; three stepsons, David Pemberton, Douglas Pemberton and Jerry Pemberton; one step daughter, Florene Loflin; 12 grandchildren, Bonnie Baker, Michelle (Matt) Lynd , James (Laura) Call, Dennis Banks Jr., Brian (Amber) Cooper, Norman (Melissa) Cooper Jr., Ashley (Aaron) Koths, Carol-Ann Banks, Brandon (Martha) Banks, Chad (Jennifer) Banks, Brittany Banks;also 24 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Alvin L. Banks, Jr. and Dennis E. Banks; and by three sisters, Mahala Christine McMillen, Edith Cordelia Owens and Elena Mae Pemberton; and two great grandchildren, David Cooper and Nancy Banks.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: James Call, Brian Cooper, Scott Pazdera, James Grisso, Charles Harwell and Jeff Humphrey.
