Obituary

Susan Nolen Bunton

Susan Jane Nolen Bunton, age 66, a resident of Jefferson, LA, formerly of Wyatt, MO died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on Saturday, May 15, 2021 while visiting her son and family in Everett, WA.
Born August 30, 1954 in Charleston, MO, to the late William Henry and Anna Pauline Dyer Nolen, she had lived in Wyatt and was a 1973 graduate of Charleston High and attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff. After which, she moved to New Orleans, LA, where she lived the rest of her life.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Ron Bunton of Jefferson, LA, one son, Ethan Matthew (Phoenix) Bunton of Everett, WA; two granddaughters, Mary Sue and Lisa Marie Bunton of Everett, WA; two brothers, Frank Nolen of Cleveland, GA, and Thomas Nolen of Charleston, MO; three sisters, Mary Marascalco of Canyon Country, CA; Fay (Morris) Groves of McKenzie, TN and Leah Ann (Michael) Poindexter of Otisco, IN. She also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Howard Nolen, Edward Nolen, Jesse Ray Nolen, Jesse Wilbur Nolen, James Nolen, John Nolen and Robert Nolen; two sisters, Lola Bright and Cora Thurman; and two nephews, Jerry Dale Nolen and Arnold Taylor, Jr.
Susan was a christian and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in River Ridge, LA for most of her adult life. She was very active in the church where she attended bible study groups, sewed costumes for plays, created floral arrangements and coordinated most of the crafts for Vacation Bible school. Due to health issues, Susan had to take early retirement. Even though she had kidney disease for the past 36 years, and was on her third kidney transplant, she never complained. Her trust in the Lord gave her the will to live and she kept busy. She was born with a green thumb and loved her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to sew and was an avid crafter. She was very generous with her time and always helped people in need. Above all, her two granddaughters were the light of her eyes. She loved teaching them new things and spending time with them. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and will be affectionately missed by family and friends. We rejoice in knowing that she will be pain-free and have a new body in heaven with our Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Riverside Baptist Church, 9220 Jefferson Hwy.
River Ridge, LA. 70123
