Tammy Lou Hopper, age 60, of Charleston, died Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.

Tammy was born April 26, 1962, in St. Louis, MO, and adopted by Chester O. Hopper and Helen Louise Burkett Hopper. Tammy was brought home to Charleston where she would live her entire life. A 1980 graduate of Charleston High School, Tammy went on to receive her nursing degree in Kansas City and practiced as a registered nurse until the tragic loss of her son Ben, on March 26, 2001.  She was of Baptist belief.

Survivors include her father, Chester Hopper of Charleston; her brother, Mark Hopper of St. Louis; her sister, Louella Davis of Henderson, KY; her nieces, Tonya and Tiffany, as well several great nieces. Also, several aunts, uncles and cousins survive.

Tammy was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Hopper; her mother, Helen Hopper; and her grandparents, John and Vada Samons Hopper and Thomas Ira and Jimmie Dale Cozart Burkett.

Friends may assemble for graveside services at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
