Obituary

Ted Dewayne Leonard, 67, died at his home in Sikeston, Friday, March 4, 2016. He was born April 25, 1948 in Poplar Bluff to the late George and Cora (McMullin) Leonard. A resident of this area for over 40 years, he was of the Lutheran faith and had been a brick layer and masonry worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the American Legion Henry Meldrum Post; he was an avid hunter and pool player. On September 20, 1974 he was married to Cynthia "Cindy" Dock in Sikeston and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Leslie Wethington & Travis Hasty of Sikeston and Amanda Leonard and Anthony Hampton also of Sikeston. Two brothers Larry Mueller and Gary Mueller and one sister, Pauline Butcher and 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson also survive. He was preceded in death by his only son, David Leonard March 23, 2015. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel Tuesday, March 8, from 11:00 am until time for services at 12 Noon. Rev. Johnnie Sliger, pastor of Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Hampton, Travis Hasty, Kelsoe Foster, Ricky Skelton, Berry Knupp and David Hasty. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kayden Leonard and David Leonard, Jr.
