TERRY BRUCE STOCKMAN, age 76, a resident of Sikeston, died Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 13, 1939 in the New Bethel Community of Mississippi County, to the late Grover Cleveland "Joe" and Emily Pauline Harvell Stockman. Following his graduation from Charleston High School in 1957, he primarily worked in sales and management for most of his life. He lived in Southeast Missouri until 1971, when he moved to Freeport, IL, then to Mentone, IN, until 1979, when he returned to Sikeston. In 1994, he opened USA Mattress Outlet with his wife, where he was co-owner and operator. Terry started preaching in 1965, serving as minister to area churches, most recently, the Asherville Church of Christ.
On July 6, 1957, he married Betty Jean Cheatham, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one son, Alan (Lisa) Stockman of Mt. Vernon, IL; three daughters, Karen (David) Colvett of Bertrand, Susan (Roy) Northern of Farmington, and Laura Stockman of Sikeston; one sister, Paula (Steve) Pullen of Villa Rica, GA; six grandchildren, Taylor Stockman, Haley Porter, Chelsea Graham, Grace Colvett, Ty Northern, and Kate Northern; also two great grandchildren, Harper Graham and Gentry Graham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Stockman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Hour at 3:00 p.m. Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, will officiate.
Private Family Graveside services will be conducted at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
