THEODORE ANTHONY 'TED' PIERCEALL, age 88, a resident of Charleston, MO died at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 05, 2009 at the Charleston Manor.
Born January 7, 1921, at Charleston, Missouri to the late Otto Elisha and Gertrude Leible Pierceall, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church. He retired in 1978 from the Mississippi County Library where he had worked for over 26 years both in the library and in the operation of the Bookmobile which provided a traveling library for all schools in Mississippi County. In addition to his work through the library, he owned Ted's Popcorn Wagon and operated it seasonally, Spring through Fall, for five years on the corner of Main and West Market Street in Charleston. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and retired from the Missouri National Guard after 25 years of service.
On May 14, 1946, he married Ruth Mildred Winger, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: two sons, Denis Anthony Pierceall and Charles Patrick Pierceall both of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Martha P. Moore of Bloomfield, MO and Mary P. Naumann of Belleville, IL; three sisters, Polly Williams of Bowling Green, KY, Tillie Boatman of Chandler, IN and Lillian Renaud of St. Peters, MO; three grandsons and three granddaughters, Daniel Pierceall, Angela Pierceall Malo, John Pierceall Moore, Anne Moore, David Naumann, and Susan Naumann.
One sister, Sister Barbara Ann Pierceall CPPS, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where prayer services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston with Father Glenn Eftink, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Denis Pierceall, Charles Pierceall, John Moore, David Naumann, Mike Bryant, and Ronnie Rolwing.
