Obituary

JOSEPH THOMAS "TOM" GLENN, age 77, a resident of rural Charleston died Friday, November 30, 2012 at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

He was born on August 16, 1935 in Mississippi County to the late Robert J. and Amarilla Hargan Glenn Sr. He had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he farmed, was a 1953 graduate of the Anniston High School, and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for 50 years and taught the Men's Sunday School class. Following his high school graduation he enlisted with the Missouri National Guard and retired as a Chief Warrant (W2) Officer after 42 years of service in August 1995. In the fall of 1997 he was appointed to serve as President of the Public Water Supply District #1, a position he held until his death. A member of the Charleston Lions Club, he had been honored as Lion of the Year and was an avid cardinal fan.

On February 1, 1957 he married Marilyn Knupp who survives of the home.

Also surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Kevin and Maria Glenn and Scott and Deena Glenn all of Charleston; also seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Caroline, Conner, Carrinn, Lillie, Emory, and Lettie-Collins.

One brother, Robert Glenn Jr., and one sister, Patricia Bruenderman, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, December 3, 2012 with Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church, officiating.

Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside rites at the IOOF Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Shoffner, Brent Hupp, Ken Stevenson, Max Carlyle, Richard Powell, and Emmett Burke.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Shoffner, Kyle Hutcheson, Collin Grissom, Burke Dodson, and Dennis Gross.

Memorial contributions may be given to the New Bethel Baptist Church, 731 N. 407th Road, Charleston, MO 63834.
