Thomas Craig Halstead Sr. 69 died Tuesday, March 24, at his home in Charleston, MO.
Born August 25, 1950, in La Romana, Dominican Republic, to Clint W. and Dorothy L (Hestand) Halstead Jr. He was a 1968 graduate of Massena Central High School, Massena, NY where he participated on track and field, wrestling and football teams. He received "All Northern" football recognition playing in the positions of defensive left guard and middle linebacker. In October of 2018, he along with his teammates, were inducted into the Massena Central High School Hall of Fame. The Massena Red Raiders completed four consecutive years without a loss, and in two of those years not allowing an opponent to score. He obtained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class during his service with the U.S.Navy from 1968 -1971, assigned to the USS Nashville, in the Atlantic Fleet. He then served in the Naval Reserve until 1973. In 1976, he graduated from Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, AR with a degree in Business Administration and was employed with Noranda Aluminum, Inc. from 1977-1997. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, the Knights of Columbus, and the Charleston Lions Club.
A member of the Charleston Country Club and the Men's Golf Association, Tom enjoyed a good round of golf. He loved fishing and spending time with his family - especially being a grandfather.
On February 12, 1994 he married Donna Lee Bryant who preceded him in death on January 10, 2019. His parents also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one brother Clint W Halstead III (Lee Ann) of Gideon, MO; one sister, Holly Harris (Ed) of Vicksburg, MS, one son Thomas Craig (Tommy) (Alison) Halstead of Portageville, MO; two stepsons, Cully (Julie) Bryant of Sikeston, Jason (Elizabeth) Bryant of East Prairie, MO; and his grandchildren, Alice Kathrine Halstead, Shelby Grace Halstead, Tanner Bryant, Harper Bryant, Beau Bryant, Clay Bryant, McKenna Bryant, William Brantley Bryant; along with nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on a later date. McMikle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
