Thomas "Tommy" James Thompson

TOMMY THOMPSON, age 82, of New Madrid, died at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau on Friday, April 8, 2022.

Born on June 19, 1939, as Thomas James Thompson at home in New Madrid to J.R. and Lennie Fontaine Thompson, he was the fifth generation of his family to reside in New Madrid dating back to his great-great grandparents, Thomas Littleton and Malinda Ann Watson Fontaine.

After graduating from New Madrid High School he joined the United States Army Reserves and was stationed in Fort Sheridan, near Chicago, IL.  He was a printer and worked 23 years at The Weekly Record in New Madrid, then worked for 23 years with Moll Printing in Sikeston until retiring in May 2011.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Beavers Thompson, who survives of the home.

Also surviving is their daughter Michelle Thompson Brazel and son-in-law, Randy Brazel of Charleston; one granddaughter, Natalie Lenn, and her husband, Leighton"Trey" Harmon Ke in rsey III and one grandson, Thomas Rand Brazel all of Charleston.

Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston
