TOMMY EARL WOODS, SR., a resident of Bertrand, died Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Bertrand Nursing Center.
Born September 20, 1923, at Canalou, MO, the late William and Florence Pitts Woods, he had lived in Bertrand area most of his life where he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bertrand. A retired farmer, he had worked a number of years in the engineering department of Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston until his retirement. He had served on the Bertrand School Board and on the Bertrand City Council and for a number of years volunteered at the Charleston Nutrition Center delivering for the meals on wheels program. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran having served in World War II.
On February 18, 1948, he married Audrey Alene Evans, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1981.
Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Tommy Earl Woods, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Scott City, MO; his daughter in law, Nita Woods of Union City, TN; grandchildren, Ethan Woods, Natalie Woods, Terry Lynn Woods, II and Levi Woods; also, six great grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lynn Woods; his brothers, Bill Woods, Emanuel Woods and W.T. Woods and his sisters, Mable Peters, Ruby Earline Little and Norma Jean Matthews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Gerald Collier, will officiate.
Interment with full military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Levi Woods, Terry Lynn Woods, II., Ethan Woods, Andy French, David Peters, Christopher Chapman and Kevin Ray.
