TOOTIE BABB
EMMA BLANCHE 'TOOTIE' BABB, Age 90, a resident of Charleston, entered into the arms of her Heavenly Father, Monday, April 21, 2014.
Born July 28, 1923, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Emma Blanche Jones Hazel, she was raised on the family farm at Vanduser until the death of her father when she was just 14 years old. She then moved to Sikeston with her family where she lived until she was 16 years old, at which time she enrolled in and attended the Missouri School for the Deaf at Fulton. After her graduation, she lived and worked in Sikeston until her marriage. She then moved with her husband to their new home on the family farm near Charleston. Affectionately known as "Tootie", she was a member of the
Charleston Country Club
, the Ladies Golf Association, the Women's Bowling Association and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston. After her long life of raising her own family and playing her sports, Tootie, more than anything, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them grow.
On October 15, 1948, she married Elmer Jewell Babb, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2000.
Surviving are three sons and daughters in law, Joseph William Babb and his wife Renate of DuPont, WA; Charles David Babb and his wife Leslie of Naples, FL; Daniel Jewell Babb and his wife Dianne of Charleston, MO; six grandchildren, Major Steven Babb, David Babb, Mary Sundall, Jeanette Brown, Kristen Hackman and Daniel Babb, II; 10 great grandchildren, Trace Babb, Ashby Sundall, Paige Babb, Jake Sundall, Avery Brown, Trent Babb, Charlie Sundall, Reese Brown, Adeline Sundall and Owen Hackman.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Hazel and by two sisters, Bonnie Strickland and Helen Hazel.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at
11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014
, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Michael Brewer will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel Babb, II, Donny DeLine, Bill DeLine, David DeLine, Smith DeLine and Brent Peters.
