TROY SMITH, Age 79, a resident of Benton and formerly of Charleston, died Monday, October 13, 2014, near Benton.

He was born October 13, 1935, at Decatur, TX, to the late Ruby Nell McMillen Finley and his stepfather who raised him, the late Tom Finley. He had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was employed with Waggener Tire Company a number of years and when it closed opened his own business, Smith Tire Company. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand.

He married Bessie Marie Samons, who survives of the home at Benton.

Also surviving are three sons, Michael (Tina) Smith of Benton; Mark A. (Sheryl) Smith of Bertrand and Johnny (Kay) Smith of Benton; three brothers, James Finley of Portageville; Bobby Finley of Hayti and Donnie Finley of Mountain Home, AR; six sisters, Jo Ann Broussard of Magnolia, TX; Martha Shankle of Charleston; Rita Jarvis of Pensacola, FL; Gloria Ferguson of Clarksville, TN; Debbie Meyer of Vienna, IL and Patricia Traughber of Malden; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Besides his mother and stepfather, he was preceded in death one brother, Billy Finley and two sisters, Linda Henderson and Brenda Finley.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. David Cullen, pastor of the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and nephews.
