Obituary

Van Noisworthy, of Charleston, beloved husband, father and grandfather, joined his fellow brothers from WWII and his family in heaven after a long and beautiful life, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the age of 92.

He was born on March 7, 1922 in Charleston. MO. He served his country with
honor in the U.S. Army in World War II, storming the beach at Normandy, fighting for our country. He earned several medals including three bronze stars for Normandy, North France and Rhineland and also a Good Conduct Medal. Upon returning from the war, he worked at the Economy Oil Company and then the French Implement Company as a Mechanic for 41 years. He then owned his own small engine repair business in his retirement years. Van recently attended the Honor Tour, a great time in his life to meet and be with his fellow veterans. He loved to dance when the opportunity presented itself, work in his repair shop, and build anything his heart desired. He insisted on working hard every day until he joined the Lord.

Van grew up in Charleston, son of the late Fred and Cannie Bell Miller Noisworthy. He married his childhood sweetheart, Lucy Baugh, on July 18, 1943.

Van is survived by his wife, Lucy, of 71 years; his children, daughter Vanette Hensley-Salyer (Bil) of Poplar Bluff, his son, Gary Noisworthy (Sherri) of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Rick Hensley of Paducah; Shelly Stone (Bill) of Jackson; Trevor Noisworthy (Kelly) of Poplar Bluff; Cindy Garland (Daniel) of Cape Girardeau; and Tiffany Seth (Don) of St. Louis. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rufus, Ralph, Russell, Fritz, Zan and Paul Noisworthy and also one infant brother.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston and Rev. David Ross, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with full military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Rick Hensley, Trevor Noisworthy, Trey Stone, Garrett Stone, Blake Stone, Josh Stone and Ethan Hensley.
